Ponderings about style …

I was thinking about fashion trends and how fleeting they are. A trend will have an intense moment, a peak. The market will be saturated with the trend, and it gradually dies off. Not a new thing, but social media can make a trend explode on a quicker and more expansive level than we have ever seen. Adidas’ Sambas are just one example of this. The Samba trend explosion also led to a renewed interest in the brand. A successful marketing implementation!

As a small, independent maker, hopping onto trends is not something I aim for. Instead, I make pieces that you can wear for years, that don’t necessarily date. By not following ‘trends’, pieces have less of a chance to look outdated. I also aim to make jewellery that people can personalise and style their own way. The rings in the Elegance of a Coastline collection, are domed and rounded. When they are stacked with other rings or each other, they can create a maximalist chunky look. Worn alone, they give a minimal, finer look, but still with some substance.

The Classic Stacking ring is a simple wire ring, made from 2mm round wire so it’s quite substantial and not super fine. The Classic Stacking ring works great as a pinkie ring and is easy to layer with other jewellery or stack more than one together.

So if you’re looking for jewellery that is modern, has classic foundations, and is easy to wear in different ways, have a look at the jewellery I design and make, here on my website.
